Avant Welfare Foundation’s Computer Lab and Skill Center – Building Smart Classrooms and Smarter Futures
In an era where technology is integral to every field — from academics and communication to careers and creativity — the lack of digital infrastructure in many government schools continues to hold students back. Recognizing this urgent gap, Avant Welfare Foundation set out to build not just a room with computers, but a fully functional, future-ready Computer Lab and Skill Center designed to uplift both the school and the larger community it serves.
This center is now a permanent, high-quality resource within the school — a dedicated space equipped with 15 state-of-the-art computers, installed with learning software and supported by internet connectivity. But what makes this lab truly impactful is not just the equipment — it’s the integration of infrastructure with long-term educational value.
The lab is built to serve multiple functions. For school students, it enables regular access to structured digital education, integrated with the school timetable. It allows students from Class 5 to 10 to practice essential digital skills — from basic typing and research to presentations, spreadsheets and introductory coding. This prepares them not only for board exams, where digital literacy is increasingly relevant, but for further studies and vocational pathways.
What sets this lab apart is its community-facing potential. Outside of school hours, the center can open its doors to local youth, women and first-generation learners — offering sessions in basic computer use, digital banking, job search skills and online services. This makes the lab a shared resource — a digital empowerment hub, not just a school facility.
Additionally, the lab’s custom-designed furniture, including ergonomic chairs and wooden workstations, ensures comfort and functionality, allowing for longer, more focused learning sessions. This setup makes it suitable for interactive sessions, group activities and even career counselling workshops.
In essence, this center is more than infrastructure — it is a long-term investment in the school’s academic growth and the digital readiness of the community. It transforms the school into a modern learning space and creates a ripple effect of empowerment that goes far beyond the school walls.
With this initiative, we have laid the foundation for a smarter, more connected and more capable future — where every child and every citizen gets the digital head start they deserve.
